Learning Readiness & Parent Support

Goal: To provide parents and caregivers the information and support they need to develop positive, appropriate relationships and language rich environments for their children, beginning at birth.

Initiatives

Rx for Reading

· Partnership with pediatric providers and the Health Department to provide, at designated well-child visits, a book, early literacy info and a prescription for parents to read to their children daily

"Norman Reads"

· Volunteer reading progam where members of the community read with children at child care centers

Books for Babies

· Annual book drive to collect books during Week of the Young Child
